Weight Transfer Is The Language Of Grip

Drifting becomes easier to understand when you stop thinking only about steering angle and start noticing where the car is loaded. Weight transfer changes how much grip each tire can produce and how quickly the car responds.

Forward Transfer Helps Rotation

Lifting or braking can move load toward the front axle. That can increase front response while reducing rear grip, which is one reason weight transfer can help initiate or tighten rotation.

Rearward Transfer Changes What The Rear Tires Can Accept

Throttle moves load rearward while also adding wheel speed. The result depends on power, grip, speed, steering angle, and surface. This is why throttle control is a balancing tool, not just an accelerator.

Transitions Are A Transfer Problem

During a transition, the car's mass is moving from one side to the other. If the driver adds steering or throttle at the wrong time, the car can snap, straighten, or overshoot the intended line.
